Performance Brake Conversion & Upgrades for BMW & Porsche

The most powerful system on any modern automobile is the brake system. Most often, the brake system can slow the vehicle from speed to a complete stop it just half the time or less than what it took for the the engine and drive-train to propel the car up to speed.

Still, there are almost always improvements to be made and brake conversions are a great way to increase the performance of a given vehicle without ever touching the horsepower rating. From fully-engineered aftermarket Brake Conversion Kits, to retrofitting better performing components from higher models to other projects, the brake system can completely change your current braking system to one that is set up for the track and that can also handle increased horsepower in your vehicle.

We have worked hard to establish great relationships with premium vendors to supply you with the best engineered brake conversion solutions, upgrade kits and individual components available on the market.

Not only do we help you find the RIGHT setup for your BMW or Porsche, we’ll also install them, bed the pads and test them for the best brake performance available for your track street-track or dedicated track toy.

Quick tip

Oftentimes competitors and even individual customers themselves will take a simple “bigger is better” approach and install brake components without regard for the balance of the system. The effects on handling due to factors such as front-rear brake bias, or an increase in un-sprung weight is completely ignored and can adversely affect braking and handling. Let us discuss the engineering behind pad compound and friction coefficient, disc swept-areas, caliper piston-sizing, cooling, brake master-cylinder sizing, pedal-leverage and other factors which change your braking system entirely, before making a purchase.

In some cases simple changes such as changes in pad compounds, flushing the system with a performance brake fluid that has a higher boiling point and the addition of stainless steel-braided brake lines alone can already make a significant improvement in braking over the existing system. (Over time your rubber brake lines soften and will expand under braking. DOT-rated SS lines are a great way to counteract this problem.)

Just because you purchase a kit that has cross-drilled rotors, doesn’t necessarily mean that they will work better, so allow us the opportunity to help scope upgrades that are appropriate for your vehicle and how you use it.

We love performance

Over the 18+ years of our time in business, Group 2 Motorsports has installed tens of thousands of brake components and serviced thousands of brake systems. We have installed hundreds and hundreds of upgraded brake kits and tested the systems that we sell installed in our own cars and on the track!

We can help you find and install the perfect brake kit or solution for your powerful vehicle. We have forged solid relationships with many performance brake component and kit manufacturers including –

  • Sparta
  • GiroDisc
  • Wilwood
  • Tarox
  • Brembo
  • StopTech
  • and many more…

If we don’t already have a complete kit set up for your vehicle, we can call in the help of our engineering partners to scope the right setup for how you utilize your German machine. Brackets are typically CNC machined, hard-anodized aluminium. Calipers are typically lightweight, multi-piston technology pieces. Pads are sourced from proven manufacturers such as Brembo, Ferodo, EBC, Hawk and more.

Brake Rotor Upgrades

In most cases, we prefer high technology, engineered, slotted and veined brake rotors that are zinc-dipped, over cross-drilled, over common internet purchase cross-drilled units that can promote stress cracks.

The brake rotors we recommend are zinc kipped to keep them protected and let’s be honest they look awesome too. We also service and offer 2-Piston, 4-Piston, 6-Piston and 8-Piston caliper solutions where appropriate.
