Preventative Maintenance Specific to Your Make and Model
The key to maximizing your mileage and getting the most out of your investment is regular preventative maintenance. European vehicles have sophisticated engineering and while that makes for a smooth and exhilarating ride, it also means that they’ll need a little extra care.
At The German Auto Doctor, we know this and we can help to make sure that your vehicle is getting regular preventative maintenance when it needs it and more importantly, exactly where it needs it. Below are some examples of preventative maintenance for 3 of the 5 brands that service by way of example:
- BMW – If you wait until every 10,000 or 20,000 miles to service your BMW, then you’re not going to be a happy camper in the long run. These vehicles need to be looked at every 5000 miles and while your CBS will inform you of issues, it’s really best to have a BMW expert checking up to ensure that your BMW is always at its best. For instance, we know to check your Timing chain often, as BMWs sometimes experience slippage with them. Knowledge like this is one of the perks of going with experts who know these cars!
- Mercedes – Your first 10,000 miles, your Mercedes-Benz is going to need an oil and oil filter replacement, a Brake inspection, fluid level checks, a peek at the tire pressure, and then a quick reset of the maintenance counter for good measure. Depending on your model and personal usage habits, there may be additional checks such as a dust filter change, but the checks we’ve listed are the usual for your first 10k mile marker.
- Porsche – Oil changes are extremely important with Porsches and so this is an area where we like to pay extra attention. Your tires also need to be pressure checked and rotated often if you get a lot of heavy use out of your Porsche, as well, since you’ll need that granular control to go with that powerful Porsche engine.
Solid Full-Service Repair That You Can Count On
Whether you are dealing with something as minor as a scratch or something major like engine or body work, The German Auto Doctor has got you covered. Our mechanics deal with European vehicles day in and day out – it’s all we do – and that’s the kind of expertise you’ll have at your beck and call. Below are a few examples of some of the most common repair work we do here and we’ll use the same vehicle manufacturers as our previous example to keep things simple:
- BMW – BMW made the news over an issue with the door handles, where some models were experiencing the doors opening on their own. As this was covered by the media, sometimes we’ll get folks with stuck doors who are understandably worried but we’ve got good news. It’s not necessarily that famous problem – sometimes it’s just a matter of replacing a pin that’s come loose in its housing!
- Mercedes – Funny enough, a known issue with some Mercedes models is a constant check engine light, that often turns out to be a simple issue indeed – a loose gap cap. This isn’t a bug, but rather an efficient design – Some modern Mercedes monitor the release of vapors on a granular level and a loose gas cap certainly counts. Little things like this are important to know and a great example how experts like The German Auto Doctor can save you time and money!
- Porsche – Some manual transmission model Porsches have an issue where the 2nd gear keeps moving to neutral. This is caused by natural wear and tear or actual damage to the op-sleeve or the dog ring and is more common with drivers that like to shift quickly and often. It’s usually an easy fix of replacing the worn part, but it’s not something you want to wait on!
